A Palace That Looks Like It Is in India

The Royal Pavilion was rebuilt between 1815 and 1823 in an Indo-Saracenic style for the Prince Regent, with Chinese interiors and a kitchen whose iron columns are shaped like palm trees. It has nothing to do with local architecture and never did.

The clock: Brighton keeps GMT and BST. Its West Pier, opened in 1866 and closed in 1975, has been collapsing into the sea by degrees ever since.
