DAILY PUZZLE

Guess the City: a new geography puzzle every day

Every day at midnight one of the world's best-known cities becomes the answer. You see its latitude, time zone and population; each wrong guess tells you how far away and in which direction the answer lies. Six guesses, no sign-up.

Which city is this?

How to play

  1. Read the three numbers on the ticket: latitude, UTC offset and population. They narrow the globe down before your first guess.

  2. Type any city — there are 1,042 to choose from. After a wrong guess you get the distance in kilometres, an arrow pointing towards the answer, and whether the country, continent and population match.

  3. Solve it in six guesses or fewer, then share your emoji grid. The city is never revealed in the share text, so friends can play the same puzzle.
