The Oldest Worked Gold in the World

The Varna necropolis, found by a digger operator in 1972, held around 3,000 gold objects dated to roughly 4,600–4,200 BC — the oldest processed gold ever discovered. One grave alone contained more gold than every other site of that era combined.

The clock: Varna keeps UTC+2 on the Black Sea. Its beaches face east, which makes it one of the few Bulgarian cities where the sun rises over the water.
