The Frauenkirche was destroyed in February 1945 and left as a ruin for decades. Reconstruction from 1994 to 2005 reused about 3,800 original stones, each catalogued and returned to its position — they are the dark blocks scattered across the pale new sandstone.
The clock: Dresden runs on UTC+1. Its Zwinger palace carries one of the oldest surviving public clock faces in Germany, on a porcelain carillon of Meissen bells.
