Stones Fitted Without Mortar

The Inca walls of Cusco are cut so precisely that a blade will not fit between the blocks, and they have survived earthquakes that brought down the colonial buildings placed on top of them. The twelve-angled stone on Hatun Rumiyoc is the most famous single example.

The clock: Cusco keeps UTC−5 at 3,400 metres. Inti Raymi, the Inca sun festival, is still staged on the winter solstice each 24 June.
