A Cannon Fired Every Day Since 1877

The Grič cannon has been fired from Lotrščak Tower at exactly 12:00 every day since 1 January 1877, originally so the city's church bells could synchronise. They no longer need it. It is still fired.

The clock: Zagreb keeps UTC+1, and the cannon is now checked against an atomic reference — a time signal that has outlived its own purpose by nearly 150 years.
