A Country That Built 170,000 Bunkers

Enver Hoxha's government built somewhere around 170,000 concrete bunkers across Albania between the 1960s and 1980s — roughly one for every four citizens. Two of the largest, under Tirana, are now museums.

The clock: Tirana keeps UTC+1. Private cars were banned in Albania until 1991, so the city's traffic problem is younger than most of its drivers.
