A Volcano That Killed a City in Minutes

Mount Pelée erupted on 8 May 1902 and destroyed Saint-Pierre, then Martinique's largest city, killing around 30,000 people in a few minutes. There were a handful of survivors, one of them a prisoner in an underground cell.
